KANCHANPUR — Movement across the Mahakali River has come to a complete standstill after the Dodhara-Chandani suspension bridge, considered the second-longest of its kind in Asia, suffered severe structural damage. According to the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, the damage occurred on the Dodhara side of the bridge, which connects Dodhara-Chandani Municipality-4 and Bhimdatta Municipality-13.
A 5-to-6-meter section of the bridge has buckled upward, and the collapse of a supporting pillar has left the structure dangerously twisted, completely blocking the thoroughfare.
The closure of the bridge has caused immense hardship to local residents who rely on it daily. Local authorities and relevant government agencies have initiated steps to urgently repair the structure and restore movement.
